Bigfoot Entertainment CEO and Fashion One Foundation Board Member, Ashley Jordan was invited by the Qatar Foundation For Combating Human Trafficking as one of the speakers on the 3rd Doha Forum on Combating Human Trafficking held last January 22-23 in Doha, Qatar.
Ms. Jordan talks about the active role of media in raising awareness on the issue of human trafficking as Fashion One Foundation premiered The Girl With No Number, a Bigfoot Entertainment’s production, through its television network, Fashion One, to support the Human Trafficking Awareness Day in cooperation with Fashion Hope.
Human Trafficking is a global issue. 2.5M each year are victims of human trafficking. It is not just happening in 3rd world countries like Asia or Africa where people are traded around like goods. It is also happening in the US, Paris and all over. We hear reports of females being kidnapped and sold as sex slaves to the highest bidder, or mail order brides “bought,” or even children forced into labor. Anyone, even your next-door neighbor or a billionaire living in the Hamptons, can be guilty of Human Trafficking.
Bigfoot Entertainment is an international entertainment company specializing in the production of films and television programmes. The company produced a controversial film The Girl With No Number that depicts the story of a young Vietnamese girl that worked in garment factory who leaves her home in search of work, and ends up being coerced into marrying a foreigner to help support her family – a predominant form of human trafficking happening across the regions today.
The Girl With No Number was shown on Bigfoot’s international television network, Fashion One, through the efforts of its non-profit charity arm, Fashion One Foundation.
“We aim to spotlight and support other non-profits. As a media outlet, we utilize our reach to further education and bring awareness to key social issues today,” explains Ms. Jordan, “In the film The Girl With No Number, we want to bring the issue of human trafficking to light, and support organizations who are actively invoking this cause in the process. We are looking forward to work with other organizations who are in need of a venue for their voices to be heard.”
